License Agreement and information regarding this software: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You must agree to our terms before you can continue. Our engineers endevour to address your issues but we cannot be held responsible for the actions of 3rd party software installations. If we "break" a piece of software in trying to repair a fault we always assume that you have purchased any such software on your system and therefore have the ability to re-install this software if any of our actions break it's use. At no point will we ever lose your data or work. Our liability for lost data does not extend to mechanical or electrical faults within your machine. This software allows us to help you at your own request. We do not look at any files other than relevant to fixing your problem(s). We respect your privacy and at no point can we see or do anything that you cannot see and do. We cannot reconnect without your permission. Our liability extends to any software damage caused by the use of our remote control software or the actions of our Engineer which we will address as best we can free of charge if we are deemed responsible. We are not liable for hardware damage as our system is not capable of damaging any hardware. Our system works on IBM PC compatible computers running any Microsoft 32 bit or compatible operating system. It may work on other systems but we did not test this. We do not claim to be able to fix everything via a remote control session. In these circumstances we offer a no fix - no fee policy. We invoice only on providing a satisfactory solution. Having said this we can deal with 99% of issues remotely with success. Please read below for a full Q and A regarding how this works. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - YOU instigate a connection to us at the agreed time by using our software, (which is based on RealVnc a free and secure remote control system) - When YOU are connected TO US we can see your computer screen. All the time you will have a logo with a green V in your system tray (by the clock on your taskbar opposite to the START button). - When our engineer has control of your machine the icon will go black. - At this point our engineer can ONLY SEE WHAT YOU CAN SEE. (I.e. what is currently on your screen). - You are still in full control of your keyboard and mouse and our engineer can also move the mouse and press keys on your keyboard, as if they were sat in front of your machine. At any point you can permanently terminate the connection by disconnecting the Internet or right clicking on the icon on your taskbar (The V) and choosing Close. - When our engineer has finished, they will disconnect the remote control by closing this icon. Remember you initiate the connection to us, we are not connecting to your machine so once the session is closed ONLY YOU can start it again. We have no further access to your machine. - Because you see exactly what we see there is no "behind the scenes" activity. - Once the remote control has finished the software COMPLETELY auto removes itself from your system and we lose the ability to share your screen, keyboard and mouse - until such time as you decide to instigate it again. - It is no different to having an engineer visit your machine in person - except you don't have to incur the costs involved in sending our skilled personnel - so we can cut your support costs in half. "What do I need to be able to use this service?" You need a computer that is connected to the Internet. Any connection is fine, even a modem! If your machine is not able to connect to the Internet then you cannot use this service and you will need to contact us to arrange an engineer visit. "How does it work and does it effect my computer in any way?" The remote control works by you downloading and opening our special remote control software. This software is based on a product called "RealVNC" and is an industry standard and fully secure product designed for remote control technical support. Your connection with us is password encrypted and fully secure so nobody else can compromise it. When we have finished we disconnect and our software is completely removed from your system. "What can your engineers see and do?" We get your computer screen on our monitor and when we move our mouse and use our keyboard it operates your mouse and keyboard. Everything that you see is what we see, there is no behind the scenes activity. We also liaise via telephone so you are still in full control during the entire support process. It's exactly the same as having an engineer visit your home or business. "What are the benefits of Remote Control support?" For you it means we can halve the cost of Technical Support because our engineers do not have to physically visit you. For us it means we can support a much wider audience as we are not restricted by travel. We believe this is the future of technical support. "What about my privacy?" (See "What can your engineers see and do?" above). Qual-IT fully respects your privacy and we do not look at anything other than your system files and the immediate problem at hand. If you wish us to look at documents you are having problems with we can do this but only on your request. At every moment you can see exactly what we are doing. You are fully in control, if you wish to terminate the remote control session you merely have to disconnect from the Internet. "It doesn't seem to be working!" Some corporate networks, and even small business and home users may have enabled a two way firewall. The default firewall that comes with Windows XP, and most other firewalls are one way which means they only block information from outside in and not inside out. If however your firewall blocks information both ways you will need to do one of the following. 1. Tell your system administrator, or configure your personal firewall to allow connections on TCP ports 5800 through to 5810. 2. Temporarily disable your firewall. Refer to your user manual or the manufacturers support or website for details. If all else fails look for the running icon on the taskbar (by the clock - opposite the the START button) and click the RIGHT HAND mouse button, looking for a menu with a CLOSE, EXIT or DISABLE option you can select. "Does it work with all kinds of Internet connection?" YES! Our system works whatever kind of connection you have. Modem, Router, Broadband, ISDN, corporate networks and everything else. It even works on networks that share one Internet connection (known as NAT or Network Address Translated networks).
